About Hand Scraped Hardwood Flooring

Hand scraped hardwood flooring will make your home even more beautiful. It will raise it's value and add a warmth no other decorative element can. Instead of those boring old carpets you can have a real deal. You may choose to have rustic, matte floors, or glossy, elegant surfaces. In any case, lovely wood textures will make your home more comfortable and more attractive.

Hand scraped hardwood flooring can be quite different from industrial wood floors. Both types have their advantages, but solid wood is always something special, especially when it comes to interior design of residential buildings. For this purpose, several types of wood are mainly used. Red oak, pine and bamboo are just some of them.

Widely used red oak has numerous amazing characteristics that make it especially suitable for flooring. Oak is very hard, wear-resistant and scratch-resistant material. It has an appealing texture and can be stained in whatever color you like. Even so, like all wood flooring, it looks great as it is, with only a clear topcoat. Beautiful golden colors can be emphasized using stain.

Bamboo is often used as a floor covering. Given the fact that the bamboo stalks are not suitable for normal processing, stacking and pressing these stems get a very solid board. These boards later processed in the usual way. Bamboo floors are resistant to water, heat and wear, and look very nice. Final processing gives them a matte or glossy look.

Lighter and much softer pine can also make lovely floors. Hart-wood pine and sapwood pine look very different. Sapwood is much softer and lighter, and bigger pieces of furniture might damage it. The most interesting characteristics are numerous pin holes and knots. They are actually considered to be irregularities, but they look so interesting that they are the main reason for pine's popularity.

Sapwood pine is soft, decorative and very light. It's much cheaper than the heartwood, and has more distinctive patterns. Heart-pine is more expensive and it has a lovely golden-reddish color. People usually don't want to stain it. They prefer having this lovely, natural color. Anyway, Clear topcoat is needed for protection.

If you like very bright floors, maple tree is more expensive but better quality version. Maple is an extremely hard and resistant wood excellent for making floors. It has a high density and not overly noticeable texture. The price depends on the color. The most expensive maple floor is one that is brightest.

There is another reason for keeping your maple light. Thanks to its high density, it doesn't absorb stain very well. If you try to stain it dark, it might look blotchy. When it comes to maple floors, knots and holes aren't welcome. Impeccable white maple is highly appreciated.

Hand scraped hardwood flooring will transform your home. Wooden floors look great in all rooms, and you can put them in your kitchen and bathroom as well. If properly protected, they will be water-resistant, and long lasting.
