* Keep the patient clear - changing sheets, removing waste from bed pans, and so forth.<br />
<br />

* Identifying and stopping bed sores - any individual that is in their bed all day is vulnerable to uncomfortable bedsores, and CNAs move patients around their bed to prevent sores from developing.<br />

* Looking for new symptoms (and warning physicians) - if unforeseen problems develop, the CNA might be the very first to find the warning signs and tell doctors<br />
<br />
* Looking for any side effects - detecting unfavorable side effects of treatment methods, and informing medical professionals or fixing the situation independently, if they are able to.<br />
<br />
* Maintaining patient comfort - keeping the patient area cozy when they are under care of a Certified Nurses Aid<br />
<br />
* Promoting their patient's range of motion - moving their patient's legs and arms through the full range of motion to ensure they are moving<br />
<br />
A CNA-II has to do the jobs that a CNA-I does, but has also taken extra schooling to become qualified for much more technical jobs. The tasks of these level two Certified Nursing Assistants can include:<br />
<br />
* Utilizing more sophisticated tools - setting up oxygen therapies, tracking oxygen flow, etc.<br />
<br />
* Execute nasal and oral suctioning - removing oral secretions when the patient struggles to do so themselves<br />
<br />
* Taking care of fecal blockages - cleaning out clogged colon if a patient can no longer use the bathroom<br />
<br />
* Rendering tracheostomy procedures - forcing an alternate air passage when patients are not able to breathe normally<br />
<br />
* Conducting sanitary dressing modifications - changing soiled bandages<br />
<br />
* Working with IV treatments - Putting together and cleaning IV lines, checking fluid flow, stopping IV therapies, and so forth.<br />
<br />
* Performing ostomy treatments - removing a patient's wastes when they have been through an ostomy<br />
<br />
* Administering feeding tubes - after the set-up is checked out by Licensed Nurse, a CNA can be in charge of executing force feedings.<br />

* Catheterizing - carrying out catheterizations and replacing catheter tubing<br />
<br />
Most of these responsibilities and duties of a CNA significantly improve the quality of life of any sick person in the process of treatment and recovery. A good Certified Nursing Assistant will make all the difference in the world to a patient that requires care. Consider your grandma, your mom or some other family member who might end up needing care. Think of how significantly these types of duties of a CNA would make them feel. Think of how it would probably comfort your family, to discover that your own family member is receiving excellent care during their hard time.<br />
