<div class='uawarticle'>Most of us work because we have to make a living somehow. Everyone has a job situation that is unique. A few of these jobs involve working in offices and others outside. Almost everyone works the normal office hours. Then there are daytime jobs and also nighttime. What may people who study these things know for sure is that a healthy person is a better employee.<br />

One huge corporation, Amway, has 3,900 local employees. It saves 2 dollars on costs for every dollar it spends on healthcare prevention. How do they justify that? One visible result was that the medical claim of the persons who took part in the fitness program went down by 8 percent. Some have lost weight. There are many success stories of employees who lose over 50 lbs, like a woman who lost 80 in 2 years. Her coworkers claim she has more energy and a better outlook at work. Most companies agree that it takes up to three years to realize cost savings from a program that employees undertake. Getting people to change their ways takes some time.<br />

On the reverse side of things, those employees how do not participate in some sort of program to improve their health up their healthy costs by close to 23 percent.<br />

Another case study can be found at Flexco. This program become very successful and the company was able to gain an amount close to a hundred thousand dollars just by reduced premium costs. The bottom line is that this program is very effective. Furthermore, such companies are even willing to spend for the employees.<br />
<br />
As an incentive, the employees earn wellness points when they join this program. With these points, they can reduce their share of the annual health care costs up to $850. This is an important incentive in getting employees to buy in to the program. It also helps that the employee is volunteering to get in the program rather than being forced to get in.<br />

They can combine this program with the overall goals of the company. This would benefit the company in many ways. It would help the company to attain its overall business goals, if its employees are willing to stay healthy and active. This makes for a better working environment overall. One employee was unhappy because he had to get a physical until the doctor discovered a serious problem and was able to correct it before it got worse.<br />

These two examples show that it makes a lot of sense to encourage employees to stay healthy, whether you do it through the company or you encourage them to do it on their own. Other companies have had success giving their employees free membership to weight watchers online. Healthier employees tend to miss less work. You also get a better work environment.<br />
