Death Row Prisoners And Their Final Message Before Execution

by Patricia Burns

According to the law there are just some things that cannot be forgiven. These crimes are meant for a punishment as sever as death. Some would wonder what has to be done to warrant this kind of sentence. Among the many possible crimes, one of them would be multiple murders at a time and hiring someone, or being hired to murder.

A state in the country that performs many executions would be Texas. With the last execution dating October 5, 2016 . All these are on their website. The final message Texas prisoners in the Hunstville unit have are all on the website and are recorded through a microphone hanging above the inmate while strapped in for the execution.

As much as you would like to think that there is always something significant to say before kicking the bucket, some inmates in the row beg to differ. Some give long messages to their loved ones who are present during the execution while others settle for not even saying anything. Most of the time they say their final I love yous and thank yous.

So far there has been 538 recorded executions in the Huntsville unit. All their final statements can be found in the website. It is no mystery that most of their last words had the word love to be the most mentioned. Seconded by family then followed by thank. This tells you a lot about the dyings last thoughts.

The very first record in the website was the execution of Charlie Brooks Jr. Done in 1982. This was a Muslim man who chose to pray to his God before his brains and lungs were going to crash due to lethal injection. There are a lot of common things these inmates say. The most said word being love, then family, followed by thank.

In total there has been 538 executions done in Hunstville, the death row facility in Texas. Almost, always they make a statement about their God and respective religions. They show either their regret, if they are guilty of the crime, or they say their peace about what was about to happen. They also shower people with their messages of love.

There were some inmates who had a dash of humor even in their last moments. At such a young age, Vincent Gutierrez, 28 was sentenced to capital punishment. The 28 year old, believed to be bipolar said his final touching message then mentioned that the moment would have been perfect to have a stunt double.

This comical attempt does not make the matter any less morbid or sad. There were some cases that professed their innocence even when they were about to undergo lethal injection. Some make a final go at their convictions. A memorable statement was by someone convicted for murder and has confessed to 13 cases of rape. His name was Johnny Johnson.

Many experts claim that capital punishment does not effectively decrease crime rate. If it does deter anything, it would be most likely just be petty crime. This claim does make sense, since criminals who decide to lead that life are more likely to die while doing illegal business than they are going to die by death penalty. This is something they know from the very beginning, so death should not scare them anymore.
