Nice Tips On Life Management

by Tracey Moorehouse

It often happens that you hit 30 and you realize that you don't have the degrees that you wanted, or the job that you wanted or the life that you wanted. What you need is a life management plan. It's not enough just to have a plan, you have to follow through on them. At times, it takes years to perfect a plan and in some ways it is always a work in progress because your priorities in life might change. But there are a few tips that you can follow in order to have a less stressful, less insane lifestyle. Here are some of them.

The first thing you ought to remind yourself about is that you don't do things for free. You must derive a benefit. Do not waste your time attending conferences, making phone calls and subscribing to mailing lists that are totally useless. In this, you would be right to be absolutely selfish. Next, don't spend days and weeks on social media, indulging in idle banter or doing what you think promotes yourself or your business. Do things in moderation.

Do not check your email once every hour. It can not only be frustrating, but is also a waste of time. Deal with mails that need an urgent response first. Delete junk mail from unknown sources, or from sources known to be not useful. You will be saving a lot of time if you hire a managed services firm to assist you.

Always check the name of the sender and have the first line visible so that you know what the mail deals with. That way you can tackle mail that needs urgent attention first and keep the rest on wait. We all receive a lot of unwated mail everyday, and it shouldn't take an IQ of !80 to figure out what is junk and what is useful.

Keep a calendar. Either use the calendar function on Outlook, or go in for an old-fashioned desk planner. Keep giving yourself reminders. Write down your goals and how you plan to fulfill them. Plan meticulously. Chalk out what you want to achieve each day, each week, so that you achieve your quarterly goals. Being busy is good, but it also must serve some purpose.

One trick that goes towards reducing stress the most, is to leave your mobile on your desk while attending a meeting. Not only will you be able to focus 100% on the business of the meeting, you will come out of the experience feeling a lot fresher. Also, do not schedule meetings for the end of the day.

That is the time when people are likely to be more cantankerous, distracted and fatigued. They are less able to decide and less able to act on decisions that are made. Schedule meetings for the morning, when the morning routines are over and you are ready to open business for the day.

Treat everybody with kindness and gentleness. Never forget the value of ordinary good behavior. Treat people the way you would want them to treat you. Goodwill is not an illusion. All life management, finally, is about giving to yourself before giving to others.
