<div class='uawarticle'>Koh Samui is the third biggest island in Thailand. It is located on the Gulf on Thailand some 800km south of Bangkok, and 80km east of Thailand southern coast. It is an incredibly popular destination for visitors to Thailand and there is plenty of excellent accommodation options on the main beaches.<br />

Koh Samui is a very popular island paradise with white powdery sand and palm fringed beaches. The island has something for everyone, from independent travelers to families on vacation. There are some commercial beaches on the island, as well as quiet beaches that are much more relaxed.<br />
<br />
Chaweng Beach is by far the busiest beach on the island. The beach is seven kilometers in length and has white powder sand and clear blue waters that are perfect for swimming and water-sports. Chaweng Beach has a wide range of accommodation that will suit all budgets. There are also plenty of good quality restaurants along the beach and on the main street that is slightly inland. There are also exciting clubs and bars and it is a fantastic place to go to if you want some nightlife.<br />

Quieter beaches on Koh Samui include, Bang Rak (Big Buddha Beach), Mae Nam Bophut and Choeng Mon. All these beaches have excellent accommodation available to suit all budgets. These beaches are far more laid back than the main beaches and perfect for families on vacation.<br />

Apart from beach the island has a number of other attractions for visitors further inland. There is cheap scooter rental in the main beach of Chaweng, which makes it easier to explore the island.<br />
<br />
Wat Khunaram is a beautiful Thai Buddhist temple that is well worth a visit. The temple is well known for displaying a mummified monk. Wat Phraya, or The Big Buddha Temple is another beautiful temple with a wonderful 15 meter tall statue of Buddha.<br />

The island of Koh Samui has something for everyone, whatever their budget. Backpackers love the island and many stay for a long time and live the beach hippy lifestyle. The islands is also very family friendly and it is even possible to rent an entire villa on the island. Water-sports fans will find much to do on the island, including water skiing, kite surfing, jet skiing, diving, snorkeling and much more. Do a search online for accommodation in Koh Samui.<br />
