Here, they function billboards or signs of some sort. The purpose determines the size.<br />

Today there are many types of awnings on the market. They can be categorized into those that are manually or automatically operated. Automatic models are operated by electrical energy. The types include retractable, lateral arm, aluminium, side arm, and portable models. Each model has its own advantages and disadvantages when put to different applications. The advantages checked out in an awning are adaptability, cost, durability, portability, usability, and availability.<br />

Lateral arm versions have roller bars and/or tension arms, which receive support from the torsion bars. Torsion bars get fitted into soffit brackets and/or walls. This way, the total mass of the overhangs is spread along the walls. Aluminium awnings are probably the ones that have been in use for the longest. They are placed on many buildings around the globe. Apart from the benefits given above, they also offer shade for the patio, increase the life span of casement treatments, and assist in regulating interior temperature within the house.<br />
